Year Of The Boro

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 This is the year of the Boro,
No one will break us or shake us.
Dead wood of last season,
Buried or thrown away.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 All last season
Our gaffer has planned and plotted,
During the transfer window
Gathered from his kith and kin,
Warriors of Celtic blood
All brave hearted and strong,
This is the year of the Boro.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 This is the year of the Boro
Be warned our Celtic warrior have no fear,
Like their ancestors,
Who, even to the might of Rome did not bow,
You can’t break us or shake us.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 From the elite,
Only the bravest of the brave, have been chosen.
Our champion, the four times top SPL scorer,
With 164 goals, the all time Scottish Premier league record,
The sight of whom, nay the mere mention of his name
– Boyd, Kris Boyd,
Will send defenders scurrying,
Like in the days when his illustrious countryman William Wallace
As marched to York or
Was it just the sight of Mel Gibson,
Face half covered in blue mud and in kilt.

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 If needed our man could enlist the help of another famous Scott,
Lieutenant Commander Montgomery “Scotty” Scot
– Of the Star Trek fame,
To engineer few moves
Or use the famous phrase “Beam me there, Scotty!”
In at the right place,
At the right time,
To bang them in!
This is the year of the Boro,

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 Like any Scot worth his salt
He reveres the bagpipes, not just as a musical instrument
But as a symbol of Scottishness.
Seasoned warrior, he could use this icon of Scotland
To his advantage:
As martial arts weapon, like Nunchuks
As a stun grenade,
As musical distraction and
Bang them in,
This is the year of the Boro,

7 Leave a comment on verse 7 0 This is the year of Boro,
We are the bookies favourites,
With young guns waiting in wings
Chomping on the bit
To challenge for the first team,
The Old Firm players we have bought,
A place in the premiership is our goal,
This is the year of the Boro,
And we’ll not be denied.

Notes

This written before Boro’s first match 7th August versus Ipswich.
