Somewhere among the stuff not seen a while
hides a lace-up roundish brick
that makes todays stringless curlers look like feathers
and after forty five minutes of inflation
it could not be kicked off the ground.

It was found in the seventies or eighties
in a dustbin or a skip
or a house that Dad was working in
and was brought home for the feet
of the new Stanley Mathews.
