A Day In The Life

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Get up nice and early
jump out of the bed,
feel like a kid at Christmas
ready for the big day ahead.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 First game of a new season
the sun always seems to shine,
all of life’s worries forgot about
footballs back and I’m feeling fine.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 New club shirt recently bought
purchased from the clubs shop,
big sponsors logo across the chest
and not cheap at forty quid a pop.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 Meet fellow fans in the pub
chat away over several beers,
one says we’re going to win the league
another reckons it’ll end in tears.

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 I take my seat in the ground
it always feels good to be back,
and then I’m up on my feet
as my beloved team goes on the attack.

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 The atmosphere inside is electric
“Come on you Sky Blues is the roar,”
then us supporters go berserk
when our new striker did score.

7 Leave a comment on verse 7 0 In the second half he bangs in another
he was unlucky not to have scored four,
his name echoed around the stadium
we’ve got ourselves a new player to adore.

8 Leave a comment on verse 8 0 So we got all three points on the day
Coventry City fans left full of cheer,
in fact I was that pleased with the result
In the pub I bought a round of beer !

Notes

First game and we start with a well deserved win and it was great to be back in the ground meeting up with fellow fans again, and it feels like your amongst one big family. But when you support the City you never get carried away as you just know it’ll go pear-shaped eventually on and off the pitch. So any good performances we celebrate like we are champions and the pubs after the game did a roaring trade. In fact young Armstrong who scored a brace on his debut is only on loan till January when Newcastle will get him back,so we have to get all we can from him before another talent leaves us again. So frustrating but we’re Coventry so we have to just accept it !
