Cheers Dad.

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Extra time
Couldn’t divide us
In the seven a side final that day
T’was right cut and thrust
Or a right two and eight
Depending on who has their say.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 Anyway
Up stepped
A nervous young schoolboy
To take aim
With a squint
In his eye.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 With all thought
Of Glory
and the point
To me story
Resting on that one last try.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 Their keeper
Expecting a tap to his left
Dived like a swan in the park
But I was too clever
So I fooled him I guess?
By knocking it over the bar.

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 There were mums and dads
Going ballistic
As me miss instigated near riot
While me father
From Cork and a man of few words
Kept his take on me err
Kinda quiet.

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 As I sat there in tears
Somewhat humiliated
Dejected, right downcast and flat
I’ll never ever forget;
“Jaysus bhoy will yeese get up out of there
Yer showing us up,
After making an awful pigs ear of that!”

Notes

Nothing to add other than that I understand exactly how a penalty shoot out misserer feels more than most!

Stay well, be lucky and keep smiling.

Carefree…….

Peace.

Kev.
