And the crowd spilled out
To a heaving Abbey Road.

Carrying cooler boxes
And their kids in tow.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 Kinda let me know
That the football season
Is now well and truly over.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 I don’ t wanna go to the Oval
I don’t wanna go to Lords
And sit drinking Pimms with a load of toffs
Throughly blimmin bored.

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 The close season’s now upon us
Where real die-hards cop the hump
So until the Euro’s are up and running again
Us top flight football fans are stumped!

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 Do they sing any songs at the cricket
Does a mighty cheer go up for a six
The games stopped for luncheon and tea I’ve heard said
Is that when the posh punters get pissed?

7 Leave a comment on verse 7 0 Are the fans partizan in their panama hats
And off the peg pale summer suits
If not, then I’ll stick with me working class ballet
That will thankfully, be back quite soon!

Notes

Driving across the famous zebra crossing, down Abbey Road, in North West London yesterday afternoon, I was almost run over by these herds of pale suited, panama hatted toff’s with their cooler boxes and kids in tow, marching in great hordes to the tube, and bus to get off home after a day out at the cricket!

Even reading that word makes me feel sick!

It was a painfull reminder that alas the football season is well and truly over for us fans of the teams in the top flight!

Sadly or at least until the Euro’s!

peace
