1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 He lies there, unconscious
face down in the mud,
a crumpled wreck
his mouth oozing blood
six minutes of treatment
The Lane stands so silent
and all because players
are overly violent.
How many keepers
I’ve seen kicked in the head
then left to lie
left for dead.

Get well soon, Gomes. Must say(grudgingly), otherwise Spurs did have a very good game at times playing more like their superior North London neighbours…

However, this business of attackers challenging for a ball they have a “right” to challenge for but no real chance of kicking anything but the goalkeeper has to stop. We’ve seen Almunia and Gomes go down in the space of a week and they are not isolates incidents. I genuinely fear that a keeper will have a career ending injury if they aren’t given more protection. I needn’t remind anyone that it nearly happened to Cech – in my opinion THE greatest goalkeeper in the world.
