All we need now is Johnny Giles
Telling us who to choose.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 Chippy Brady’s in the frame
And the other joke O’Leary
The FAI have washed their hands
And a decent bloke is history.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 “We’ll head-hunt” that’s the favoured call
On the news just out of Dublin
The job I thought was for one in football
And all this new age speak is troubling.

Notes

Cascarino, Dunphy, Giles from the warmth and comfort of the media circus tent, decide to have a right old go at Steve (Stan) Staunton, prior to and during his getting the tin tack yesterday.

I know when you take on the national team job you set yourself up for this kind of abuse, but ex team mates having a pop, to me still stinks to high heaven of a once loyal friendship betrayed. For the sake of what? A newspaper headline or the topic on some radio programme. Those who seem to do a great job of international team management without ever having set foot in the hot bed of the arena. Give me the right hump. The low-lifes.

in fairness – each of those mentioned above – have quite categorically prefaced every comment, in public, with the phrase ‘Stan is a friend’ / ‘I like Stan but ..’ then put their professional concern ahead of their personal feelings – if only John Delaney had done the same …
