I’m reading all me half read books
I’m hearing songs with lovely hooks
I’m focusing so deeply
On how the pitch will look!

I’m contemplating making changes
To me garden thats at home
I won’t answer the telephone
I’ve left it off the hook
All the time I’m wondering
How the pitch will look!

My kids are home from uni
Both of them have jobs
I’m pleased to say they’re pretty keen
I have no time for slobs
I try so hard to teach them things
That can’t be found in books
Like have the posts been painted,
How the pitch will look!

I watch me wife do gardening
As she plants new grass
Saturdays are boring now
But that will come to pass
All the plants are blossoming
So vibrant and so rich
I wonder how our grass is now
And I wonder how’s our pitch?
