I Heard A Whisper.

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 In Bishopsgate outside the betting shop
I pondered on getting some on
As a voice in me nut, told me “Kevin me son
I’d back Chelsea to win it three one”.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 In a hurry to get to the workshop
I body swerved having a bet
Happy with what Guus had done with our lot
I’d this feeling we might bulge their net .

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 The end of the day came by quickly
With that fantasy bet long forgot
As I ran like the wind through the city
To get home indoors for the kick off.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 On the train home I was restless
At missing the start of the match
When I reached our front door I was breathless
In the hallway I almost collapsed.

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 As our daughter and son shouted “Dad we’re one down”
Thirty five minutes showed up
Then we levelled the tie with an header that I
Knew restored hope for the cup.

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 When the second sailed in from an header again
I’d a feeling he might yet score three
That’s when I decided to confide in the kids
What the voice in me napper had told me.

7 Leave a comment on verse 7 0 “Oh Dad you should have a few quid on
With Ivanovich to knock in a deuce”.
“You heard whispers we’d win by three goals to one
And you ain’t had a bet? Blimmin hell dad you’re no use!”

8 Leave a comment on verse 8 0 Then The Drog went and knocked in the third one
So that whisper I’d heard had come true
I was getting these looks from our daughter and son
That were spooky, but what can a score prophet do?

9 Leave a comment on verse 9 0 I’m a loser for not putting a bet on
I’ve missed out on a shed (sic) full of cash
And do you know what? I’d do the same thing again
If it helps us to win… a quite simply breathtaking match.

10 Leave a comment on verse 10 0 Final verse goes to the loyal Liverpool fans
Who gave it their all till the death
To Mr Benitez a fine gracious man
Gallant in defeat. A long overdue… much respect!

Notes

I know, I know. He’s losing it, hearing voices and stuff. It’s a true story. I kid you not. I’ve only just got My voice back after shouting at the telly during the game last night. What a cracking contest and still as the old cliche says only half time in the scheme of things. Bring on the second leg and another blinding game for the fans to look eagerly forward to.

I’m with Guus on this, it’s not over yet, and I will not be having a bet on the second leg either, despite what the voices tell me!

peace
