I May As Well Be A Substitute.

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 As I sit on the bench
I wonder
Will I play today?
Who’ll have to come off
For me to get on
And will I do okay?

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 I’m sitting here
Its freezing
Shall I go and warm up
One of the boys might think
He’s coming off
I’d better not stand up

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 The manager is pensive
He looks around at me
We have’nt spoke
Since I passed him the sugar
To go in his half time tea

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 I had a run in the interval
To keep my muscles warm
Oh, the other team have scored again
The boss now looks forlorn

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 He’ll have to bring on an attacker
I’m a centre half
The points were in the bag for us
Till one of the boys
Did something daft

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 There’s the final whistle
I did’nt get a game
We held on for a two one win
In a pretty boring game

7 Leave a comment on verse 7 0 Ah well it happens
Time to change
Back into me suit
If I can’t be a first choice centre half
I may as well be a substitute

8 Leave a comment on verse 8 0 peace.

Notes

I often wonder what these blokes are thinking as they watch all that is going on around them?
