Jesus made the bench for Liverpool once

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 At Stanley Park God rebuilt Eden
Laid down the hallowed turf
He hailed the faithful in the Kop
And blessed the grand red shirt

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 He named this garden Anfield
And then God He came to play
But with Ian St John commanding
God couldn’t get a game

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 Thus spake Shankly: “I’m sorry Son
You’ll have tae wait your turn
I’ll tell ye this you’ll make the bench
Watch closely Son, and learn!”

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 Spoke God: “Now William I came down to play
I’m creative, word of truth!”
Spoke Shanks: “I’ve miracles of me own
Ron Yeats there pulling on his boots!”

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 Now Jesus knew the Scotsman’s heart
His passion and his pride
God knew that He would have more chance
Of making water into wine

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 Than breaking through the senior ranks
If He wasn’t good enough
But making up the numbers there
He just found really tough

7 Leave a comment on verse 7 0 So He had a word with Shankly
And told of His skills with wood
Shanks said: “Son, ye want to make the team?
Well here’s a way ye could!”

8 Leave a comment on verse 8 0 So when they gathered by the waters
In their thousands by that lake
The faithful asked the risen Christ
“Lord, what was Shankly like?”

9 Leave a comment on verse 9 0 The Christ thought for a moment
Chose His words then proudly said
“Well, I was the happiest chippie in the world
The day I made the Liverpool bench!”

Notes

I hope the Good Lord has a sense of humour!!
