Lev Yashin

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 That blimmin Barry Davies
I didn’t need to know
That Lev Yashin had died with one arm
As an alcoholic in Moscow

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 As a kid he was my idol
That awesome man in black
He was one of the reasons
I put a goalie’s jumper on my back

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 It was during one of the World Cup ties
That I really got pissed off
You know the one with that stunning goal
Scored by Igor Belanov

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 Why did Davies tell us?
Did we really need to know?
That one of the greatest keepers of all time
Died destitute and low?

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 I wish he’d kept it to himself
That wasn’t the right time
To tell of Lev’s sad demise
And how he had declined

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 They talk of all these keepers
They come and then they go
But we will never ever forgot
The man in black for Dynamo

7 Leave a comment on verse 7 0 peace.

8 Leave a comment on verse 8 0 kevin

Notes

Whilst watching the USSR v Belgium World Cup tIe? (not too sure what year) Igor Belanov had scored with a stunnning volley and at sometime during the game Barry Davies just came out with this! A brilliant goal, game and an idol were just ruined in one fell swoop!

peace.
