Mr Richardson regrets he’s unable to win today, madam.
He says that his soldiers put on an amazing display.
He says it is plain fatigue,
But they’re still the best team in the league, madam,
Mr Richardson regrets he’s unable to win today.

An injury crisis has cruelly thwarted their hopes, madam,
No other team has been left in such sad disarray.
If they’d have had John O’Flynn,
They’d have turned every draw to a win, madam,
Mr Richardson regrets he’s unable to win today.

The critics are fierce and say Cork well deserve their demise, madam.
Their own fault for not spending cash in close season, they say.
But there’s no better players to be had,
And the George situation’s just sad, madam.
Mr Richardson regrets he’s unable to win today.

The goals have dried up but they’re still the league’s one shining hope, madam.
There’s no better team playing ball in the country, today.
The statistics may prove otherwise,
But whatever they say is damned lies, madam.
Mr Richardson regrets he’s unable to win today.
