Old Wise Owl

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 In a pub some old codger approached me,
and he laughed, as he looked at me scarf,
saying “son tha’ will never be happy”
“as long as theres an ‘ole in your ar*e”

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 Well i paused in me buying of victuals,
cos i’d already had 2 or 3
poilitely said I, “do i Know you old boy”?
he said ” Yes, years ago, I was thee”

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 I just laughed at the cryptic old codger,
and i made me way back from the bar,
handed out ale, to me mates at the table,
‘cept for Dan (who was drivin’ the car)

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 Next time twas my round, up i staggered,
and i wobbled to t’bar in me scarf,
a voice in me earhole, it whispered,
“I’ll tell all, if tha’ll get me an ‘alf”

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 well by this time i’ve pretty much had it,
and i bought him his half pint of mild,
and i asked him why i’d be unhappy,
toothless at me, t’old lad smiled

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 sayin’ “followin’ Sheffield Wednesday,
is not for a lad of faint heart,
cos for each happy day, whether home or away,
theres a thousand thats not worth a f*rt

7 Leave a comment on verse 7 0 and for every victory scrambled,
theres 20 defeats lie in wait,
and each glorious goal, scored by Wednesday, hold,
20 more, t’opposition lads take”

8 Leave a comment on verse 8 0 Well i laughed, struggled back to me table,
and I passed o’er to lads, pints of ale,
looked over me shoulder at t’old lad,
but thought better, of telling the tale

9 Leave a comment on verse 9 0 an hour later me mates had gone homeward,
I was sat on me own in the Tap,
when a group of young Owls fan came over,
and sat near, where me own self was sat,

10 Leave a comment on verse 10 0 Drunk, i looked at the unwrinkled faces
there bedecked in their hats and their scarves,
and said “lads you will never be happy,
as long as an ‘oles in your ar*e”

11 Leave a comment on verse 11 0 They just laughed and they bought me a whisky,
i thanked ’em and drunkenly blinked,
and an old lad at t’bar, gave out one big “Guffaw”,
looked over his shoulder and winked
