Passion

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 The Cork City bug
It bites like a drug
Sufferance and frustration
From here to damnation

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 One Club and one city,
Charming and pretty
All for one, one for all
Win or lose, rise or fall

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 Of our local heroes
Not all on the pitch
We run our club wisely
We’ll never be rich

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 In the right hands
Please have no fear
The outstretched arms
Of the volunteer

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 Serious business
Never that funny
Washing the kit
and counting the money

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 This pride and passion
Won’t go out of fashion
Community based
Never displaced

7 Leave a comment on verse 7 0 A family together
Through all stormy weather
Cork county or city
Our steering committee

8 Leave a comment on verse 8 0 Trophies come rarely
Happiness barely
Shouts come from the stand
Sure everything’s grand

9 Leave a comment on verse 9 0 We all raise our children
With City at heart
So the next generation
Will know where to start

10 Leave a comment on verse 10 0 The pride in our city
The love of our club
The charming and pretty
The never give up

11 Leave a comment on verse 11 0 Cork City FC
There for you and for me
Door open for all
A club of football

12 Leave a comment on verse 12 0 Someday when we all
look down from above
There’ll be football, FORAS
In the city I love.

Notes

It’s been a while guys, been away running our club, one we, the supporters, now own and run, doing ok, back in the Premier Division vying for the title and were back in Europe too.
A film maker supporter asked me if I’d write a poem as he wanted to film me reciting it, he did a great job, link below.
