The Eve Before Cardiff

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Ive stood on Hillsboroughs heaving Kop,since 1964,
seen triumph and adversity, and, then ive stood some more
ive stood and sat, and sat and stood, ive howled until i’m hoarse,
ive toddled home in triumph, and walked weighed down with remorse,

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 ive seen the best, ive seen the worst, seen Waddle down to Olsen,
and took it all and suffered much, then suffered a bit more, son,
ive been to Wembley a few times, ive laughed, ive also cried,
been driven to distraction by this bloody football side,

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 and once again fates fickle hand, has led me to the state,
where all i think to bloody do, is drink, instead of eat,
Once more another dawn has broke, and Wednesday hearts do rise,
in hope and expectation for this famous football side,

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 And clad in blue and white we go, the legions heading south,
hope springing eternally, and heart once more in mouth,
to cheer the lads who wear the shirts, to roar unto the skies,
“The Famous Sheffield Wednesday”, “Wednesday ’til i Die!”

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 and come what may this fateful day, the one thing that is for sure
The Wednesday fans will come again, to bring the Hillsborough roar,
to any of your cities, to your villages, or towns,
for even in adversity, Owls fans are reknowned,

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 Keep your mighty Arsenals, Newcastle , Man U’s
for they be great, but as of late, mean nowt to me and you,
for be it Anfield , Highbury or just some dismal shed,
The Owls are there in numbers…Up The Wednesday….enuff said
