The writing is on the Wall

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 The local paper’s back page
read about our football team
which player is leaving today ?
it’s enough to make you scream.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 Our club is in a right old state
the tax man is sniffing about
talk in the pubs of liquidation
is our beloved club on its way out ?

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 The manager wants to keep the better players
but they don’t want to play in League One
already Championship clubs have come calling
and we know in the coming months they’ll be gone.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 Boardroom meetings take place behind closed doors
so as usual us fans are kept in the dark
then we read we may lose our football stadium
so that means they’ll be playing in a local park.

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 To think we were once a Premier League outfit
and playing against the elite of English Football
but when you sell your best players all the time
as they say the writing is on the wall.

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 So it looks like a very stressful Summer ahead
as us fans haven’t got a clue what’s going on
but in today’s paper it says talks have broken down
and yet another director has resigned and gone !

My club Coventry City is going through it’s worst period for decades.

And all we hear and read lately is depressing stuff, with boardroom arguments, and players being linked with this club and that.

Then we hear about dodgy financial dealings that would make Alan Sugar explode. To put it bluntly it’s a complete and utter mess, but as usual us fans get treated shabbily and all they want is us to renew season tickets ! And line their grubby pockets with our hard earned cash.

If I didn’t love the game so much I’d have told them to shove it where the sun don’t shine !
