Eric The Short-Sighted Goalkeeper

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Eric the short sighted goalkeeper
Is the best keeper we’ve got.
He may concede many goals,
But he also saves a lot.
As long as he remembers
To wear his seeing aids,
That’s right without his glasses
The chance of victory just fades.
You think it would be simple
But he always leaves them behind,
His memory is not the best
So we wrote this song to remind
Him:

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 Chorus
Don’t forget your spectacles Eric
Without them we’ve no chance in this game.
Don’t forget your spectacles Eric
So if we lose you may not get the blame.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 One weekend he forgot them
And we lost twenty four – nil.
We told him, ‘always have them’
And he said that he will.
But he’s forgotten them 7 times since
And each game has ended in defeat
Without his glasses Eric is
Just too easy to beat.
So it is really important
His glasses are on his nose.
So we have to sing this song to him
And this is how it goes:

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 Chorus
Don’t forget your spectacles Eric
Or all that bending down will hurt your back
Don’t forget your spectacles Eric
And we may not have to fear every attack.

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 Eric has the ability
To sleep in any place.
We tried to take advantage once
By gluing them to his face
Whilst he slept, in school, I shouted,
‘Someone get me the glue
Then hand it to me
The rest is for me to do.’
But our teacher caught us
And told us it was wrong.
She wouldn’t let us do it,
So we still have to sing this song.

Notes

This is a song rather than a poem, but seeing it’s Goalkeeper theme month, I thought I’d get this one in quickly…

Hopefully I will soon upload this to my musical page… www.myspace.com/failedrockstar
