Stan stunted

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Stan
Carries the can
When in truth
To a man
It’s the FAI
Who’ve brought Irish football
Down the pan

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 But now it’s Stan
Who’ll be unemployable
After a reign
Most unenjoyable
And so he’ll turn also-ran
For there isn’t a fan
Who believed in his master plan

Notes

Steve ‘Stan’ Staunton
Sacked last night ‘by mutual consent’ from the Ireland national team manager’s job.

A decent, honest cove that few people dislike – but he was patently unsuited to the job and everyone except the FAI thought that from the very beginning.
Appointing Sir Bobby Robson was a good idea in principle, but given his age and state of health – it was an appointment about 5 years too late.
