We’ll say it’s Undisclosed.

He’s calm and well composed
But when he asks how much we think he’s worth
We’ll say it’s Undisclosed.

Where for pictures he’ll be posed

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 He’ll sign an eight year contract
With FFP loopholes well imposed

Notes

Like crowd attendances, transfer fees have become boring. I don’t want to hear about add ons – or read that if he plays a thousand games for his new team we receive an extra billion in crypto coins. I yearn for the bargain 5,000 quid buy you got from Scotland. Where that five grand saved a team from becoming extinct. Or, interesting fees like 99,999. The first million pound teenager, or the wonderment that a player like Steve Daley could possibly command a fee of 1,500,000 pounds.
Nowadays it’s all monopoly money. Average players are going for 50 million plus. Sky television make a big hullabaloo about deadline day. A taxi driver will call in a talk show and swear he took a bloke who looks like Messi to the Tesco’s near Stoke’s ground. Sky will pick up on it and cameras will descend on the Potteries.
Transfer deadline day usually ends up anti-climatic. Even when you do have a little curiosity about how much a player has cost, there is a good chance that next to, ‘Fee’ will be written – Undisclosed. Why? Surely us nosey parkers deserve the right to know how much our club paid or received for one of our players. Enquiring minds need to know.
